Week Ten wrap up
Under windy conditions on the Back Nine course, a wild afternoon of play led to standing changes for five teams in the final week of the 2010 Pease Men's League regular season on July 26. When the dust settled, the standings were rearranged and the teams of Clif Cloud and Colin McGee had victories.
Colin McGee's Team 4 took the most team points of the day with a commanding 62-46 victory over Mike Vedrani's Vee it Up. In the captain's match up, Vedrani and a sub for McGee played to a 9-9 draw. Three Team 4 players won matches. In the position 2 match, Bob Bergquist topped Mark Gootee 14-4, a sub for Bob Lightizer defeated Ron Zolla 10-8 in the positon 3 match, and Joe Flaherty topped Owen Whitham 12-6 in the position 4 match up. Paul Laurent had the lone Vee it Up victory by defeating Cliff Wentworth 10-8 in the position 6 match. The position 5 match between Steve Moore of Team 4 and a sub for Fred Wilde ended in a 9-9 draw. With bonus points added, Team 4 had 70 points and finished in sixth place and Vee it Up totaled 55 points and fell from the top spot into third place.
Clif Cloud's Masters Edge team had a strong 59-49 victory over Bill Anderson's Billionaire$. Two matches ended in 9-9 draws -- the captain's duel between Anderson and a sub for Cloud, and Fred Courser of Masters Edge and Rick Beckstead in the position 5 match up. Three Masters Edge players had victories -- Dave Curtis topped Mike Gootee 10-8 in the position 2 match, Bob Grodan won the position 4 match up 11-7 over Dave Gleason, and in the position 6 match, Tim Runey defeated Charles Keenan 14-4. A sub for Scott Dennett had the only win for the Billionaire$ with a 12-6 victory over Dave Fahey in the position 3 match. With bonus points added, Masters Edge had 68 points and moved from third to second place while the Billionaire$ totaled 56 and fell fourth to fifth place.
Bob Gryzwacz's Barnyard Animals clinched the regular season championship with a 54-54 tie with Al McKenna's Old Timers. In the captain's match up, McKenna beat Gryzwacz 11-7 and three other Old Timers' won matches. In the position 3 match, Barry LaCasse topped Ed Matheson 12-6; Larry Bullard won the position 4 match 10-8 over Bob LaBranche; and Doug Crossman defeated Carl Vancellette 12-6 in the position 5 duel. The Barnyard Animals had two victories -- in the position 2 match up, Michael McCord defeated Adam Muese 17-1 and in the position 6 match, Henry Whicher topped Jerry Hinds 10-8. With bonus points added, each team totaled 66 points as the Barnyard Animals moved from second place into the top spot and the Old Timers moved from fifth to fourth place.
Individual honors. Mike Vedrani won the closest to the hole competition for his 1-3 group on Hole 16 (5'9") while Owen Whitham won the closest to the hole honor for positions 4-6 on Hole 14 (36'11"). Vedrani and Bill Anderson had the low gross scores of the day (36), Tim Runey had low net score (30), and Michael McCord had the most individual points of the day (17).
First Round Playoff Preview. The Blue Course on Aug. 9 will be the location of first round playoff matches. In the rematch of the regular season finale, third-ranked Vee it Up will play sixth-ranked Team 4 while the fourth-ranked Old Timers will play fifth-ranked Billionaire$. Regular season champs Barnyard Anilmals and second-ranked Master's Edge earned first-round byes.

Week Nine wrap up
Under sunny and hot conditions on the Front Nine course, the playoff chase tightened as the teams of Clif Cloud, Bob Grzywacz and Al McKenna scored victories in week nine matches of the 2010 Pease Men's League on July 19.
Clif Cloud's Masters Edge team took the most team points of the day with a decisive 62-46 victory over Cloin McGee's Team 4. In the captain's match up, McGee topped Cloud 13-5 but four other Masters Edge players won matches. Dave Curtis beat Bob Bergquist 11-7 in the position 2 match, Dave Fahey topped Bob Lightizer 13-5 in the position 3 match up, Bob Grodan won the position 4 match 10-8 over Joe Flaherty, and in the position 6 duel, Tim Runey soundly defeated Cliff Wentworth 14-4. The position 5 match ended in a 9-9 draw between Steve Moore of Team 4 and Fred Courser. With bonus points added, Masters Edge totaled 74 and moved within 8 points of first place while Team 4 had 58 points for the day and fell into sixth place.
In a showdown between the top two teams, Bob Grzywacz's second ranked Barnyard Animals defeated Mike Vedrani's top-ranked Vee it Up 59-49. In the captain's match up, Vedrani and Grzywacz played to a 9-9 tie. two players for the Barnyard Animals had victories. In the position 4 match up, Bob LaBranche beat Owen Whitman 13-5 and Carl Vancellette topped a sub for Fred Wilde 11-7 in the position 5 match. Mark Gootee had the lone Vee it Up win by edging Michael McCord 10-8 in the position 2 duel. Two other matches ended in 9-9 draws -- Ed Matheson and Ron Zolla of Vee it Up in the position 3 match and Henry Whicher of Barnyard Animals and Paul Laurent in the position 6 match up. With bonus points added, the Barnyard Animals totaled 71 points and moved 3 points of first palce while Vee it Up totaled 59 points but kept the top position.
In the closest match of the day, Al McKenna's Old Timers edged Bill Anderson's Billionaire's 56-52. McKenna won the captain's match up 12-6 over Anderson and two other Old Timers won matches. Barry Lacasse won the position 3 match over a sub for Scott Dennett 12-6 in the position 4 match, Larry Bullard topped Dave Gleason 11-7. The Billionaire$ were led by Mike Gootee winning 12-6 over Adam Meuse in the position 2 match and in the position 6 match up, Charles Keenan topped Jerry Hinds 12-6. In the position 5 match up, Doug Crossman of the Old Timers tied Rick Beckstead 9-9. With bonus poitns added, the Old Timers had 68 points and moved into fith place while the Billionaire$ totaled 62 points for the day and remained in fourth place.
Individual honors. For the second week in a row, Colin McGee won the closest to the hole competition for his 1-3 group on Hole 9 (7') while Joe Flaherty won the other closest to the hole honor for positons 4-6 on Hole 3 (33'). McGee also won low gross (35) and net (31) score honors while Tim Runey had the msot individual points of the day with 14.
Week Ten Preview. With the top three spots for the playoff positioning yet to be settled, the final regular season matches of the Pease Men's League will be July 26 on the Back Nine course. The matches feature top-ranked Vee it Up against sixth-ranked Team 4, second ranked Barnyard Animals and fifth-ranked Old Timer's and third-ranked Masters Edge against fourth-ranked Billionaire$.

Week Eight wrap up
After an afternoon summer storm blew through the region, the teams captains Mike Vedrani, Colin McGee and Al McKenna scored victories on the Blue Course in the eighth week of matches of the 2010 Pease Men's League on July 12.
Mike Vedrani's Vee it Up racked up the most team points of the day by soundly defeating Bill Anderson's Billionaire$ by 65 to 43. In the captain's match up, Vedrani topped Anderson 12-6 and four Vee it Up players turned in winning performances. Ron Zolla topped Scott Dennett 11-7 in the position 3 match up; in the position 4 match, Owen Whitman topped Dave Gleason 13-5; and Jeff Abrams (subbing for Fred Wilde) beat Rick Beckstead 10-8 in the position 5 match; and in the position 6 match up, Paul Laurent defeated Charles Keenan 10-8. In the position 2 match, brothers Mark and Mike Gootee played to a 9-9 draw. With bonus points added, Vee it Up totaled 77 and moved back into first place in the standings and the billionaire$ had 55.

With bonus points added, Team 4 totaled 74 points and moved into fifth place while Barnyard Animals had 54 and dropped to second place in the standings.
In the closest match of the day, Al McKenna's Old Timers edged Clif Cloud's Masters Edge Team 55-53. McKenna won the captain's match up 12-6 over Cloud and the Old Timer's won two other matches. In the position 3 match Barry Lacasse topped Dave Fahey 11-7 and Larry Bullard beat Bob Grodan 11-7 in the position 4 match up. Master's Edge won the remaining three matches. Dave Curtis topped Adam Meuse 10-8 in the position 2 match; in the position 5 match up, Fred Courser defeated a sub for Doug Crossman 10-8; and in the position 6 match, Tim Runey beat Jerry Hinds 13-5. With bonus points added, each team totaled 65.
Individual honors. Colin McGee won the closest to the hole competition for his 1-3 group on Hole 7 (15') while Rick Beckstead won the other closest hor for positions 4-6 on Hole 3 (8'6"). Mike Vedrani, Dave Curtis, and Adam Meuse shared low gross score of the day honors by shooting 38 while Meuse had a 32 for the low net score. Owne Whitman and Tim Runey shared honors for the most individual points of the day with 13.
Week Nine Preview. With two weeks remaining in the regular season and playoff positioing far from settled, the Men's League plays next on July 19. On the Front Nine course, the matches will feature a showdown between the top two teams after eight weeks of play, Vee it Up and Barnyard Animals, while Master's Edge will play Team 4, and the Billionaire$ will face the Old Timers.

Week Seven wrap up
Under humid, breezy and cloudy conditions on the Back Nine Course, close matches predominated as the teams of captains Colin McGee and Mike Vedrain scored victories on the Back Nine in the seventh week of matches of the 2010 Pease Men's League on June 28.
Colin McGee's Team 4 racked up the most team points of the day by defeating Al McKenna's Old Timers by a 57 to 51 point score.
In addition to McGee's 11-7 win over McKenna in the captain's match up, three other Team 4 players won matches. In the position 3 match, a sub for Bob Lightizer bested Barry LaCasse 14-4, Steve Moore won the position 5 match up 10-8 over Doug Crossman, and Cliff Wentworth defeated Jerry Hinds 10-8 in the position 6 match. Two Old Timers won matches. In the position 2 match Adam Meuse topped Bob Bergquist 11-7 and Larry Bullard defeated Joe Flaherty 13-5 in the position 4 match up. With bonus points added, Team 4 totaled 67 and the Old Timers had 63.
Mike Vedrani's Vee it Up took the second most points of the day by narrowly defeating Clif Cloud's masters edge team 55-53.
While a sub for Cloud and Vedrani played to a 9-9 draw in the captain's match up, Vee it Up got victories from three players -- in the position 4 match up, Owen Whitman defeated Bob Grodan 11-7, a sub for Fred Wilde won 10-8 over Fred Courser in the position 5 match, and Paul Laurent defeated Tim runey 11-7 in the position 6 match up. Dave Curtis kept the final score close for Masters Edge with a 13-5 victory over Mark Gootee in the position 2 match. In the position 3 match, Dave Fahey and Ron Zolla played to a 9-9 draw. With bonus points added, Vee it Up totaled 65 and Masters Edge had 63 points.
Bob Grzywacz's Barnyard Animals and Bill Anderson's Billionaire$ played to a 54-54 tie.
With victories for the Barnyard Animals, Grzywacz topped Anderson 12-6 in the captain's match up and Bob LaBranche topped Dave Gleason 13-5 in the position 4 match. The Billioinaire$ were led by Mike Gootee, who won the position 2 match 13-5 over Michael McCord: in the position 5 match, Rick Beckstead defeated Carl Vancellette 11-7: and in the position 6 duel, Charles Keenan topped Henry Whicher 10-8. In the position 3 match, Scott Dennett of the Billionaire$ and Ed Masterson palyed to a 9-9 draw. with bonus points added, each team totlaed 66 points as the Barnyard Animals retained their slim, two-point lead in the top spot.
Induvidual Glory.
Bill Anderson won the closest to the hole competition for his group on Hole 14 while Bob LaBranche won the other closest to the hole honor on Hole 16. Overall, four players tied for lowest gross score of the day with a 38 -- Bob Grzywacz, Adam Meuse, Dave Curtis and Scott Dennett -- while Charles Keenan had the low net score with a 31. Four players had the most individual points of the day with 13 -- Larry Bullard, Bob LaBranche, Dave Curtis, and Mike Gootee.
The Men's League plays next on July 12 on the Blue course with matches between Barnyard Animals and Team 4, Master's Edge and the Old Timers, and the Billionaire$ and Vee it Up.

The conditions were hot summer and there was a major shake up in the standings with play in the sixth week of matches for the 2010 Pease Men's League on June 21. The teams of Bob Grzywacz, Bill Anderson and Al McKenna led the way with victories on the Front Nine course.
Bob Grzywacz's Barnyard Animals scored the most team points of the day and moved into first place with a 65 to 43 victory over Clif Cloud's masters Edge. Grzywacz defeated substitute for Cloud in the captain's match up 13-5 and the Barnyard Animals won four other matches. In the position 2 match, Michael McCord beat a substitute for Dave Curtis 11-7; Ed Matheson defeated Dave Fahey 11-7 in the position 3 match up; Bob LaBranche won his position 4 match 12-6 over Bob Grodan; and in the position 5 match, Carl Vancellette defeated Fred Courser 11-7. In the position 6 match up, Tim Runey secured the only victory of the day for Masters Edge by defeating Henry Whicher 11-7. With bonus points added, Barnyard Animals hadd 77 poits and Masters Edge totaled 51 and dropped a spot to third place in the standings.

Anderson beat McGee 12-6 in the captain's match up and three other players from the Billionaire$ won matches. In the position 2 match up Mike Gootee defeated Bob Beergquist 10-8; in the position 3 match, a substitute for Scott Dennett won 12-6 over Bob Lightizer; and by a 10-8 score, Rick Beckstead defeated Steve Moore in the position 5 match up. Team 4's sole victory of the day came in the position 4 match with Joe Flaherty defeating Dave Gleason 10-8. In the position 6 match up, Cliff Wentworth of Team 4 played to 9-9 draw with a substitute for Charles Keenan. With bonus points added, the Billionaire$ totaled 69 and Team 4 had 59.
Al McKenna's Old Timers defeated Mike Vedrani's Vee it Up by 59-49 point total. In the captain's duel, McKenna and Vedrani played to 9-9 draw. Vedrani won closest to the pin competition honors (for position 1-3) on Hole 3 and alos had the lowest gross score of the day (36). The Old Timers won two matches decisively. In the position 5 match, Doug Crossman won the most individual points of the day with a 15-3 victory over Fred Wilde and Crossman won the closest to the pin competition (for positions 4-6) on Hole 9. Also for the Old Timers, Jerry Hinds a 12-6 victory over Paul Laurent in the position 6 match up. Vee it Up winners were Mark Gootee over Adam Muese 10-8 in the position 2 match up; a substitute for Ron Zolla won 10-8 over substitute for Barry LaCasse in the position 3 match; Owen Whitham won the position 4 match 10-8 over Larry Bullard. With bonus points added, the Old Timers had 69 points and moved into fifth palce while Vee it Up totaled 59 and slipped from the top to second place but only a point from first.
Overall, five palyers tied for the lowest net score of the day with a 33 -- Mike Vedrani, Al McKenna, Joe Flaherty, Rick Beckstead and Doug Crossman. The Men's League will play the Back Nine Course on June 28.

The half-way point of the 2010 Pease Men's League was reached with the fifth week of matches on June 7th.The top three teams in the standings -- V it Up, Masters Edge and Barnyard Animals-- all had big victories on the Blue Course.
Mike Vedrani's V it Up team took the most team points of the day, and added to its first place lead with a commanding 65-43 victory over Colin McGee's Team 4. In the captain's match up, Vedrani had the low gross score of the day for the second week in a row with a 38, while tying for the low net score as well with a 36 while topping Mcgee 12-6. Four other V it Up players also won matches. In the position 2 match, Mark Gootee won one of the closest to the pin honors on Hole # 3 and beat Bob Bergquist 10-8; Ron Zolla tied for low net score honors (36) and defeated Bob Lightizer 10-8 for position 3 honor; Owen Whitham was a 13-5 winner over Joe Flaherty in the position 4 match; and in the position 6 match, Paul Laurent defeated Cliff Wentworth 11-7. The position 5 match between Steve Moore of Team 4 and Fred Wilde ended in a 9-9 draw. With bonus points added, V it Up totaled 77 points while Team 4 had 55.

Three matches ended in a 9-9 draws-- the captain's duel between Cloud and Anderson, the position 2 match with Mike Gootee of the Billionaire$ and a sub for Dave Curtis, and Fred Courser of Master's Edge against Rick Beckstead in the position 5 match up. Two masters edge players tied for most individual points of the day with decisive 14-4 victories--Dave Fahey over Scott Dennett for position 3 honors and in the position 6 match up, Tim Runey topped Charlie Keenan. Dave Gleason was the sole survivor for the Billionaire$ as he topped Bob Grodan 10-8 and also won closest to the pin honors on Hole 7. With bonus points added, Masters Edge had 73 points and the Billionaire$ totaled 56.

A sub for Dave Curtis beat Bob Bergquist 12-6 in the position 2 match, Bob Grodan won the position 4 match 10-8 over Joe Flaherty, Fred Courser won 12-6 over Steve Moore in the position 5 match up and in the position 6 duel, Tim Runey beat Cliff Wentworth 10-8. Bob Lightizer was the sole winner for Team 4 and tied for top individual point winner of the day with a 14-4 victory over Dave Fahey in the position 3 match. With bonus points added, Masters Edge totaled 68 and retained its strong second place ranking in the standings and Team 4 had 61 points.

The Billionaire$ won two other matches with Mike Gootee winning 12-6 over Adam Meuse in the position 2 match and Rick Beckstead topping Doug Crossman 11-7 in the position 5 match up. The Old Timers won two matches by 10-8 scores with Barry Lacasse winning the position 3 match over Scott Dennett and in the position 4 match, Larry Bullard topped Dave Gleason. Under summer and sea breeze conditions on the Front Nine course, the teams of captains Mike Vedrani, Clif Cloud and Bob Grzywacz scored victories in the third week matches of the 2010 Pease Men's League on May 17.
Mike Vedrani's V it Up racked up the most team points of the day by defeating Bill Anderson's Billionaire$ by a 58 to 50 score. In the captain's match, Anderson scorched the course with a four-under 32 for the day's best gross and net score in beating Vedrani 15-3. But three V it Up players turned in a strong performances. In the second position match, Mark Gootee bested brother Mike Gootee 13-5, Ron Zolla topped Scott Dennett 12-6 in the position 3 match up, and at position 5, Fred Wilde beat Rick Beckstead 13-5. In the position 4 match, Dave Gleason of the Billionaire$ won 10-8 over Owen Whitman. In the position 6 match, Paul Laurent of V it Up and Charles Keenan played to 9-9 draw. With bonus points added, V it Up totaled 70 and the Billionaire$ had 62.

Week Two wrap up
Under chilly and windy conditions on the Blue Course, the teams Captains Colin McGee, Clif Cloud and Bob Gryzwacz scored victories in the second week of the 2010 Pease Men's League on May 10.
Colin McGee's Team 4 racked up the most team points of the day by defeating Al McKenna's Old Timers by 60 to 48 point score. Mcgee won the day's individual point honors with a 14-4 win over McKenna in the captain's match up. Two other Team 4 players won their matches. In the Position 3 match Bob Lightizer bested Barry Lacasse 10-8 and in the position 4 duel, Joe Flaherty defeated Larry Bullard 13-5. Doug Crossman was the lone winner for the Old Timers with a 13-5 win over Steve Moore. Two matches ended in 9-9 draws -- the position 2 match between Bob Bergquist of Team 4 and Adam Muese and the position 6 match between Jerry Hinds for the Old Timers and Cliff Wentworth. With bonus points added, Team 4 totaled 66 and the Old Timers had 54.
Clif Cloud's Team 2 took the second most points of the day and jumped to the top of the standings by defeating Mike Vedrani's V it Up 59-49. Cloud and Vedrani played to a 9-9 draw in the captain's match up and Team 2 got major point contribution from three players -- in the position 3 match, Dave Fahey defeated Ron Zolla 13-5, in the position 5 match up, Fred Courser won 12-6 over Fred Wilde, and Tim Runey defeated Paul Laurent 12-6 in the position 6 match up. V it Up got two solid victories -- in the position 2 match, Mark Gootee beat Dave Curtis 12-6 and in the position 4 match up, Owen Whitham defeated Bob Grodan 11-7. With bonus points added, Team 2 totaled 64 points and the V it Up had 55 and is tied for second place in league standings.
Bob Grzywacz's Barnyard Animals got into the winner's column with 56-52 victory over Bill Anderson's Billionaire$. Grzywacz and Anderson played to a 9-9 draw in the captain's match up. The Barnyard Animals had two players with solid 13-5 victories -- in the position 2 match, Michael McCord defeated Mike Gootee and Carl Vancellette topped Rick Beckstead in the position 5 match. The Billionaire$ had two players with 12-6 victories -- in the position 3 match up Scott Dennett topped Ed Matheson and Dave Gleason beat Bob Labranche in the position 4 match. In position 6 match up Henry Whicher of Barnyard Animals and Charles Keenan played to a 9-9 tie. with bonus points added, the Barnyard Animals totaled 62 and the Billionaire$ had 58 to move into a second-place tie in the standings.

Week One Wrap Up
The teams of captains Mike Vedrani, Bill Anderson and Clif Cloud led the way with victories in the opening matches of the 2010 Pease Men's League on May 3. The weather was mid-spring wild with dark clouds, shower activity, gusty winds and finally bright sunshine.
Mike Vedrani's Team 5 won the most points of the day with 64-44 victory over Al McKenna's Team 6.
While Vedrani and McKenna played to 9-9 draw, four other Team 5 players won their matches. In the position 2 match, Mark Gootee defeated Adam Meuse 13-5; Ron Zolla won 10-8 over Barry LaCasse in the position 3 match; Owen Whitham tied for the men's individual point total of the day by winning the position 4 match 14-4 over Larry Bullard; and Fred Wilde took the position 5 match by a 12-6 score over Doug Crossman. Jerry Hinds was the lone winnere for Team 6 with a 12-6 victory over Paul Laurent.
Bill Anderson's Team 3 took the second most points of the day with 62-46 win over Colin McGee's Team 4.
Anderson beat McGee's substitute 11-7 and in the position 2 match up Mike Gootee and Bob Bergquist player to a 9-9 draw. Three other Team 3 players won their matches. In the position 4 match up, Dave Gleason Topped Joe Flaherty 13-5; by a score 10-8, Rick Becstead defeated Steve Moorein the position 5 match; and Charles Keenan scored an 11-7 win over a substitute for Cliff Wentworth in the position 6 match. For Team 4, a substitute for Bob Lightizer won 10-8 over Scott Dennett.
Clif Cloud's Team 2 defeated Bob Grzywacz's Team 1 58-50
Cloud won the captain's match up and tied for the most individual points of the day by defeating Grzywacz 14-4. In position 3 match, Dave Fahey defeated Ed Matheson 12-6. Team 1 winners included Bob LaBranche who won position 4 match 11-7 over a substitute for Bob Grodan and the position 5 match up, Carl Vancellette beat Fred Courser 11-7. Two other matches eneded in 9-9 draws -- the position 2 encounter between Dave Curtis of Team 2 and Micheal McCord and the position 6 match up between Henry Whicher of Team 1 and Tim Runey.
If you’re looking for a weekly organized league then you’re in the right spot. The 2010 Men’s Golf League is open to any male that holds a USGA GHIN card with Pease Golf Course. The league captains will pick teams April 12th. On April 19th there is meet your team, rules and format night with a catered meal from Galley Hatch Catering. Monday April 26th will be a captains choice format to kick off the season with the first league match starting Monday May 3rd.
The $135 registration fee includes weekly contests, kickoff dinner, and end of the year banquet, position winner, and league winner prizes. League players are required to be in the USGA GHIN card system at Pease and that fee is $35.00. A weekly green fee of $20 will be charged to all players that are not annual pass holders.
The format for the leagues is designed for all player levels. There are six teams of six. Two person 9-hole match play, two points per hole and one additional point for posting your score.
Participants are allowed two absentees per season.

For those wishing to play but cannot get into the league on a full time basis, we have a sub list. The subs pay a league fee of $10 per night when filling in, plus the $20.00 greens fee. Subs must also have GHIN card with Pease Golf Course. There are two tee times every league night for the subs to play.
